The problem, what we built, and what changed

Written for the person who has to justify the spend. Numbers where we have them, and honest about what was hard.

Hospital information system

Healthcare · ERP · 2024

A hospital information system in Pakistan that replaced seven tools without shutting a ward

Hospital group, Punjab

A multi-facility hospital group in Punjab was running seven systems that did not talk to each other. The patient record lived in one, billing in another, pharmacy in a third. Clerks re-keyed the same CNIC and encounter up to four times. Nobody could answer how many beds were free without three phone calls. Two earlier HIS replacements — one from a multinational, one from a local vendor — had been abandoned mid-project after a promised weekend cutover that never quite happened.

Loan origination software in Pakistan: nine days on paper, hours on a trail a regulator can read

Lending company, Pakistan

A Pakistani lender was moving applications through five departments on email and Excel. Median decision: nine working days. Competitors were saying yes or no inside a day, and good applicants were walking. Credit files had no single audit trail — a problem when SECP or an internal audit asked who approved what, and when.

Learning management platform

An LMS in Pakistan that survives results day

Education network, Pakistan

A Pakistani education network’s learning platform fell over twice a year: enrolment week and results day. The year before we were called, it had been unreachable for hours while tens of thousands of students hit refresh. The architecture assumed café Wi-Fi and a polite queue. It had no cache worth the name, and media sat on the same box as the gradebook.

Omnichannel retail platform

Retail · E-commerce · 2024

One inventory figure across Pakistani stores and a website

Retail chain, Pakistan

A retail chain’s website and its stores kept separate stock, reconciled overnight. Customers ordered items that had sold in a shop that afternoon. Staff had no view of the next branch. Online cancellations were heading toward one in six — expensive in a market where cash-on-delivery already eats margin.

A Flutter fleet app for Pakistani routes where the signal is worst

Logistics operator, Pakistan

A logistics operator ran thousands of vehicles on paper notes and phone calls. Nobody could say where a shipment was without ringing the driver. Proof of delivery arrived days later. Two dispatchers planned routes from memory. The last “GPS app” they bought only worked in the vendor’s office Wi-Fi.

Field sales CRM

A sales CRM Pakistani field teams did not abandon

Manufacturer, Punjab

A Punjab manufacturer had bought two CRMs. Both were empty by month four. The field team lived in WhatsApp and notebooks. Forecasts were theatre. The last vendor had built a pipeline that assumed a desk, a mouse and English labels for every stage.

AI referral triage

Healthcare · AI · 2025

AI document triage in Pakistani healthcare that refuses to guess

Healthcare network, Pakistan

A healthcare network was receiving thousands of referral letters a week as scans, faxes and email PDFs. Three people spent their days reading each one, picking specialty and urgency, and typing it into the patient system. Five-day backlogs were normal. An urgent letter could sit unread over a weekend.

A property sales portal for an Islamabad-area book, including the instalments

Developer, Islamabad

A developer in the Islamabad region was tracking listings, buyer instalments and agent commission across tens of thousands of units in Excel and a forgotten Access file. Month-end reconciliation took days. Buyers were calling about receipts the accounts team could not find. Agents disputed commission because nobody shared one ledger.

Manufacturing execution in Pakistan: three plants, one plan, less scrap

Manufacturer, Pakistan

Three plants were planning production in spreadsheets that disagreed with the shop floor by lunchtime. Machine data was on paper. Batch traceability existed in theory for the buyer audit and not in fact. Month-end and FBR-facing numbers still needed a heroic Excel. A previous MES quote had been a single PKR figure before anyone had watched a shift.
