Loan origination software in Pakistan: nine days on paper, hours on a trail a regulator can read

1 The problem

A Pakistani lender was moving applications through five departments on email and Excel. Median decision: nine working days. Competitors were saying yes or no inside a day, and good applicants were walking. Credit files had no single audit trail — a problem when SECP or an internal audit asked who approved what, and when.

2 Our approach

We mapped the real path, including the informal steps nobody had written down, and rebuilt it as one workflow: CNIC and document upload, bureau and sanctions checks, rules the risk team owns, parallel sign-off above a threshold. Anything the rules could decide was decided in seconds. Anything that needed judgement went to a person with the file already assembled. SMS status went out on Jazz and Zong, not only on office Wi-Fi.
